The Victorian Government’s exciting new Bendigo GovHub, Galkangu, is on track for completion ahead of its opening in March 2023.
Incorporating Indigenous design elements and environmentally sustainable design features, the state-of-the-art building, Galkangu is expected to accommodate 900+ staff to centrally deliver a range of local and state government services in the area, including from the City of Greater Bendigo, the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR), the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), and the Department of Transport (DoT).
The Department of Treasury and Finance’s Shared Service Provider (SSP), together with its accommodation service delivery partner Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), have been operating the Morwell and Ballarat GovHubs since 2021, and are looking forward to managing this new addition to the DTF/SSP managed accommodation portfolio.
In preparation for occupancy in early 2023, an SSP delegation, together with the builder and Regional Development Victoria’s Senior Project Manager, recently toured the new Bendigo site under construction.
The tour enabled the SSP delegation to fully experience first-hand the new space and amenities, and to further assess the building’s specific operational needs around facilities management, in-house concierge, safety, access and security requirements.
What is a GovHub?
GovHubs are a new, centralised way of doing business in regional Victoria, with a focus on enhancing customer service, revitalising city centres and delivering economic benefits to the local community.
The GovHub will centralise the delivery of a range of government services, making it a one-stop-shop for customers and a hub for local activity.
