DHHS’s Footscray site gets first solar array system

A new solar array system at the Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) Footscray site heralds the first environmental initiative stemming from a unique Landlord / SSP agreement in support of the SSP commitment towards the Victorian Government emission reduction targets.

SSP and its accommodation service delivery team JLL, have successfully negotiated a solar array installation agreement with the landlord at 71 Moreland Street, Footscray.

As part of the agreement, the landlord will install a 100 kWh solar array system, using their own capital funding.

In return, the Victorian Government will contribute their annual savings from the installation of the panels, for up to four years, which will be measured and verified by SSP/JLL’s energy and sustainability team.

With other similar arrangements in the pipeline, this is the first of hopefully many opportunities, where SSP/JLL is working with existing landlords to implement building performance upgrades and align with the Victorian Government emission reduction targets in its commitment to help tackle climate change.
