The newly opened Galkangu Bendigo GovHub in the heart of Bendigo, promises improved access to State and Local Government services for its growing population in the region.
Launched on September 1, 2023, the opening included a traditional smoking ceremony by leaders of the Djaara community, with The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP, Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Jacinta Allan MP, Deputy Premier and the Member for Bendigo East, and The Hon. Maree Edwards MP, Member for Bendigo West in attendance.
The Shared Service Provider ( SSP) and its accommodation service delivery partner Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) have worked in collaboration with Development Victoria (DV), Regional Development Victoria (RDV) and Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) throughout the construction phases of this significant regional GovHub initiative. The management of the GovHub has now been handed over to SSP to operationally manage the building, its security, concierge and facilities maintenance. DV, RDV and DTP acknowledge and appreciate the valuable contributions made by SSP and JLL during the project.
Culturally significant, Galkangu includes Indigenous design elements that reflect Bendigo’s cultural heritage, by integrating Dja Dja Wurrung design elements, ideas and language into the architecture, landscape and spaces. In addition, the state-of-the-art building incorporates environmentally sustainable design features to achieve a minimum 5-Star Green Star rating, with sustainability initiatives including efficient indoor air quality systems, and water and energy monitoring systems.
SSP is proud to manage this exciting addition to its managed accommodation portfolio For more information, please contact SSPComms@dtf.vic.giv.au.
